What sparked your interest in climbing and how long have you been climbing?

- I started climbing almost everything as soon as I could walk but I took up the sport when I began high school at

the age of 13. I had done Gymnastics for 5 years prior to taking up climbing and when I tried out climbing at the

school’s indoor climbing wall I absolutely loved it. It seemed to just come to me naturally. I joined the local

Rocksports Junior team and was thrilled by the beautiful atmosphere of the sport. It was so much fun,

challenging and everyone at the gym was so friendly and easy to get along with. I seemed to fit in really well.


Your home gym is?

- Urban Climb


What are you proud of achieving so far and what are your goals?

- This year (2017) I was one of 12 athletes across the globe selected to compete at The World

Games in Poland. I competed in both Lead and Boulder disciplines. This was an incredibly

exciting opportunity for me.

- Since 2010, I have represented Australia in 3 World Youth Lead Climbing Championships and at

14 international Open World Cups in recent years. I also competed in the 2016 Open World

Championships in Lead and Boulder disciplines.

- This year and in the future, I plan to compete in the majority of International Lead World Cups,

World Championships, World Games and other major national and international sport climbing

events held across the globe. My dream is to compete for Australia at the 2020 Olympics in a few

years’ time, with the goal of making the top ten or podium position in the world.

- Most memorable moment indoors was probably winning my first Nationals in Open A at the 2014

Lead Nationals in Victoria. Close to this was winning the Oceanic Lead Championships in Open A

in 2013 and defending my title again last year in 2016. Besides these, my first podium position in

Australian Boulder Nationals in 2014 (I considered myself primarily a lead climber up until this

point. I now balance both disciplines equally.

- Most memorable moment outdoors was ticking my first grade 30 (8a+) on “Red Dragon” in

Yangshuo, China in 2013.

- Natalie Cook, Lynn Hill, Monique Forestier


Do you have any sponsors?

- I am incredibly grateful to have an amazing support group of sponsors which I wouldn’t be

anywhere near where I am now without them; Flight Centre Sports & Events, Pinnacle Sports,

Do you have a fun fact about yourself......eg, a food you can’t go without, pre competition superstitions or

routines?

- I’m slightly addicted to grapes, and I have a big weakness for cookies and blue things.


- I love every aspect of climbing and finding new ways to challenge myself with different places,

harder climbs, etc. I train very hard, pushing my body to its limits every single day. I trains 5-6

days a week for 1-2 hours specifically for climbing and climbing strength-based activities as well

as cardio workouts 4-5 days a week for fitness.

- I loves pushing my limits outdoors on natural rock and indoors for training and competitions.

- Climbing, I see as a part of my life for the rest of time that my body deems capable.
