Climbing Australia is seeking a qualified candidate for the role of National Bouldering
Coach of the
Australian
Climbing Team. This is a volunteer position involving the training and
guidance of
the Team in Bouldering for international competition.
Position
Description
The National Bouldering
Coach responsibility relates to the discipline of Bouldering. It is responsible
for:
- Ensuring
that Team members in each state have the best possible run up to the World
Youth Championships
- Assisting
with the participation in other international events in open and youth
categories (where possible).
- It
is expected that the National Coach will attend every national training camp
(where practicable) as well as the World Youth Championships.
- The
National Bouldering Coach will work (with the rest of the coaching team) on preparation for the World Youth Championships and other international events, in the open and youth categories
- The
coordination of the training program (in youth and open) for all athletes
- The
preparation and supervision of all athletes during the WYCH
- Organising
National training camps
Position Requirements
- Excellent
communication skills
- Understanding
of each discipline and associated rules
- Climbing
coaching experience
- A
focus on the Bouldering discipline is necessary
- Competition
experience in each discipline; international climbing experience is
advantageous
- Certification
in coaching, sports science or other related field is advantageous
- Working
with children check
- Some
experience with administration preferable
This is a two year position. The Australian National
Coach reports to the high-performance manager.
