Olivia Campton-Smith - Lead Youth A

What sparked your interest in climbing and how long have you been climbing?

The first time I went climbing was at a friend's birthday party when I was 5. I loved it so much I just kept going back every week and joined a climbing group, Stone Monkeys, coached by Andrew Forrest. Andrew taught us the basics of climbing and really got me hooked on the sport at my local climbing gym St Peters Sydney Indoor Climbing Gym.

Your home gym is?

Now I've been climbing for 11 years.  My coach and trainer is Alex McInnes at First Ascent who has helped me in my training both physically and mentally and gotten me to where I am today.

What are you proud of achieving so far and what are your goals?

I am proud to have won the Youth A Lead Nationals and Oceania championships this year and to have placed 5th in Open A, and to have won Youth A boulder nationals in 2015.

My future goals are to just keep climbing, training and competing but also to climb outdoors as much as possible, especially climbing in Mount Arapiles in Victoria, which is definitely my favourite outdoor spot.

Do you have any idols?

My climbing idols would be Hazel Findlay, Alex Puccio and Cedar Wright.

Do you have a fun fact about yourself?

A food I cannot live without is definitely dark chocolate and chocolate ice-cream.
