Nanki Soin - Youth B Lead

I first started climbing in 2011, at the age of 10. I had never heard of the sport before, but was always climbing trees and any other structures that I could in my spare time, so when my mum took me to the Northern Beaches Rockhouse on a rainy day in winter, it was love at first sight.

Since then, I discovered competition climbing, and soon became immersed in the incredibly welcoming Australian climbing community. I am proud to be representing Australia for the second year in a row at the World Youth Championships in Guangzhou, China this year, and am feeling strong and motivated after achieving 2nd place in Youth B and an unofficial 3rd place in Open A’s at the Oceania lead continental championships this year.

One of my idols is Alex Puccio! She’s a constant inspiration and someone who motivates me to train as hard as I can to improve my climbing.

At the moment I’m training hard for the WYCH’s this November to achieve my goal of making semi-finals this year! Hopefully I can do the team proud and represent the country with pride!
