Madison Mulligan - Youth B Boulder and Lead

Born and live in Canberra, the Nations Capital

Compete in Youth B lead, bouldering and am starting to train in speed. I also climb outdoors, primarily lead at Nowra but also the Blue Mountains, bouldering at the Grampians and North Black and a little bit of trad at Arapiles

What sparked your interest in climbing and how long have you been climbing?

I first discovered rock climbing when i was 10 years old at a gym birthday party for one of my friends and loved it. After I went to a second party I was hooked and asked if I could join the local squad. After 2 months I had made the elite team and had several Youth D Podiums in my first year

Your home gym is?

Canberra Indoor Rock Climbing (CIRC) and Blochaus

What are you proud of achieving so far and what are your goals?

Of course making the Australian International Team this year is a great honour and I’m working hard to perform well at the World Youth Championship. My primary goal is to make the Olympics team in 2020, however outdoors would be to climb a 30+ in the next 18 months.

Do you have any idols?

Monique Forestier, Shauna Coxsey, Anna Stohr, Alex Puccio and Michaela Kiersch. All great female climbers, determined and strong!

If you have any sponsors?

Not currently but looking ☺

Do you have a fun fact about, a food you can’t go without, pre competition superstitions or routines?

i can remember song lyrics really quickly, and don’t like early morning starts. I will do almost anything to avoid getting up before 8.

I enjoy coaching the younger team members of the squad at CIRC. It’s scary how good some of them are already at 7 & 8 years old.
