Alexander Cvetkovski - Youth A Lead International and Boulder Continental

What sparked your interest in climbing and how long have you been climbing?

I went to a rock climbing party in 2009, started going for fun and then became hooked and joined Geckos at Urban Climb. I now work at Urban Climb teaching the new generation of Geckos. I have been climbing competitively since 2011. Recently I have started to go outdoor climbing and am really enjoying getting out there with my friends.

Your home gym is?

Urban Climb at West End,and Milton and Newstead. They are all very different.

What are you proud of achieving so far and what are your goals?

Definitely making TEAM AUS for the second year in a row for Lead. As Youth A is such a tough group, I feel really proud to be in the team. Also to make Continental for Boulder is really special for me because I love all the disciplines. Recently I have started competing in OPEN As and am loving it. My goal is to keep improving and having fun with sport climbing.

Do you have any idols?

I really like the climbing style of ADAM ONDRA. RUSTAM GELMANOV is still one of my favourites because you never know what he is capable of. He is unpredictable and I can relate to him. And Kokoro FUJI is amazing. I love watching him.

If you have any sponsors?

URBAN CLIMB is my sponsor but I am looking for anyone else out there who needs a loyal brand ambassador......

Do you have a fun fact about, a food you can’t go without, pre competition superstitions or routines?

I still can't go without the Grill'd crispy bacon burger but will have to settle for schnitzels and strudel in Innsbruck.

Something I love that is unrelated to climbing is that I really enjoy sprint training and when climbing comp season is over, I compete in Open As 100, 200 and 400m relay for my club Ashgrove Rangers.
